Repricing Software. Which is The Best One?
Repricing Software simply changes the prices of the products within Amazon but has become an essential tool for Amazon Sellers because prices impact the BuyBox. Managing pricing on individual skus not only takes away your time, but it leaves gaps of opportunity to win the buy box more often. A good repricer should also be pricing up when appropriate to get you higher margins as well. Let’s take a look at 3 popular repricers.
What is Go Aura?
Go Aura is an algorithmic repricer in which the user can define its behavior through defined rulesets. At the time of this writing, it has yet to release its promised Artificial Intelligence repricing features. Common rules allow you to match buy box, set pricing based on minimum ROI or Margins, reprice differently against certain sellers i.e. Amazon or FBM sellers.
If you use Inventory labs, it allows a seamless integration. What this means is that as you add products to inventory labs, it automatically syncs with Aura and applies your default rule set. This is a huge time saver as it saves a step from having to do exports and imports. Your repricer is also repricing new skus sooner because it isn’t waiting on you to provide it new skus during the import process.
We’ve used Aura for a year and there are many things we like and do not like about it. We like the simplicity of setting it up and the inventory lab integration is great. We like how it shows potential profit based on your current pricing so you can quickly identify if you lowered the price too much. As for the cons, since Aura is rule based, the repricing is fairly static. Unlike some of the other repricers that has built in intelligence, if you tell Aura to do one thing, it sticks with it. We found that our profit margins are lower when using this over a period of time compared to AI repricers. Although Aura has promised an AI feature coming soon, it’s been almost 2 years as of this writing and it has yet to be released. Another negative is the lack of reporting. There are only 2 reports we know of that you can run out of this repricer. We have requested features and reports from their support team, but it really goes nowhere. We know of some users as well frustrated with the lack of advancement of this repricer since it has launched. Perhaps this may change in the future in which we may give it another try.
PricingGo Aura offers a 14-day trial for free that unlocks all its features. After which, you can avail either 2 plans:
- Monthly Plan – $97 per month
- Annual Plan – $77 per month, paid annually
What is Profit Protector Pro?
Profit Protector Pro is another repricer that we have used for quite some time. It is similar to Aura but it has more pre built algorithms. It also has an automation feature that you can enable. For instance, you can set a default strategy but if certain trigger events happen, you can set different behaviors. For instance, you can set the balance strategy where PPP will focus on winning the buy box but also change prices up in an attempt to gain additional profit. However, if you set an example automation where if seller count drops to 3 sellers, to get more greedy with profit and price up. There are almost infinite ways to play with the automation so we advise you to do some split testing to see what works best for you. We love this feature of PPP. Another great benefit is the chrome extension. It allows you to change your strategy, min and max pricing, buy cost straight from the chrome extension that appears when you are sourcing on Amazon. This is very handy for on the fly changes. Another great feature is the phone app. It’s great for on the go when you don’t have access to a computer. You can do similar things as the chrome extension in the app. What we like about PPP is that it does in fact price up and generally gets us higher margins. Whether that means we make overall less sales due to losing the buy box is debatable but that is a common sense trade off for larger margins. We love the app and extension as well as the automation. It is also the cheapest option out of the 3 repricers we are reviewing. What we don’t like is that it does not allow integration with any of the inventory software such as Inventory labs or Scanpower as of this writing. This creates additional overhead for the user. There are very few reports you can get from this repricer as well.
PricingProfit Protector Pro offers 3 different prices for monthly plans and 3 different prices for annual plans. See the reference table below:
What is Seller Snap?
Seller Snap has custom strategies but also heavily relies on Artificial intelligence in its platform. The user interface in Sellersnap is by far the best out of any repricer we have used. It has integration with Inventory lab for benefits mentioned above. You can pretty much do anything with this repricer that the above 2 can do so we won’t dive to0 much into the feature details. The biggest strength of this repricer aside from the repricing engine are the reports. You can pull reports that helps you easily identify aging inventory, how often skus have sold, non competitive skus, and so many other useful data. This offers huge time saving when for instance, you want to liquidate aging inventory. You can run a filter that shows stock over a certain age, then set a liquidation repricing strategy. For you to be able to do this in the other repricers above, you would have to run an aging inventory report, export to Excel or google sheets, then set the strategy, min/max pricing and import into the repricer. Sellersnap allows you to do this within the program itself. The reason we emphasize reports so much in our review is that it is an integral process each seller performs to make sure we move aging inventory. This is not a difficult task to integrate into a repricer that it blows our mind why other companies are not doing it. Sellersnap does not have an app or chrome extension at this time. It’s also hard not to note this one thing. The price. It is a hefty fee to use this repricer. One has to weigh the benefits of saving time running external reports and any additional profit from it’s repricing engine is worth the monthly fee. It is 10 to 15 times more expensive the PPP. It offers an excelerator program where it gives you a break if you are below a certain threshold in annual sales. However, what are you doing with a repricer this expensive if you are below that threshold anyways? Hmmm.. We will leave it to you to make the business decision if it’s worth it.
Seller Snap offers a 15-day trial for free with no credit card required. There are also variety of plans that you can choose from, see the reference below:
